The Sony Bravia XE70 offers 11 different models. All 11 models feature the same specifications except for the screen size, weight, and VESA dimension. At a closer look, the first thing that you will notice is the narrow screen bezel design. This TV is designed with a slim narrow frame that allows the viewing experience to maximises the viewing area.
Another worth mentioning is the TV’s stand, if you’re that type that wants or prefer that the cables are hidden, then you’ll love the stand of the Sony Bravia XE70.
You can hide the cables in the stand, and hold them in place with the use of the included cable holder.
The image quality that the Sony Bravia XE70 produces is great and above satisfactory, however, it is not on par with the higher model like the Sony Bravia XE80. If you compared XE70 with XE80, the main difference between these two is that the XE80 offers more HDMI ports and features Sony’s Triluminos display, a technology by Sony that enriches viewing experience with a wider palette of colours and more natural shades and hues.
Overall, the Sony Bravia XE70 provides a wonderful colour reproduction and above satisfactory image quality. That’s thanks to its 4K HDR support that produces a clear and crisp 4K High Dynamic Range picture quality and the X-Reality PRO picture processing that upscales every pixel for that deeper clarity. Resulting in a above satisfactory viewing experience.
In terms of gaming, the Sony Bravia XE70 is a 4K HDR Gaming ready. Making it a great partner for PlayStation®4 Pro console. Giving you the option to immerse yourself in a gaming experience with vivid textures and vibrant colours.
Smart TV System
As mentioned in the specification, the Sony Bravia XE70 uses a Linux based operating system that allows you to browse the internet through the built-in Opera browser. You can even add more supported apps by downloading them through the Opera App Store. The XE70 comes with a built-in Wi-Fi like most 4K TV nowadays. It uses 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi connection.
The inclusion of Netflix and Amazon Video is no surprise to use anymore. It’s pretty much the same for every 4K Smart TV on the market. You can also easily access video-sharing sites like YouTube and access on-demand TV. The TV has three USB ports located at the side which can be used to play digital content such as music, video clips or photos.
Sony Bravia XE70 4K HDR Smart TV is equipped with multiple Sony exclusive sound technologies such as ClearAudio+ that fine-tunes the TV sound for that immersive surround sound experience and for the effects to be heard with greater clarity, Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE) for that natural audio with a more spacious feel, and the Cinematic S-Force Front Surround to naturally emulate three-dimensional sound fields. You’ll definitely enjoy a rich and a high-fidelity audio across a wider listening area with this TV.
The Sony Bravia XE70 4K Ultra HD HDR Smart TV series surely offers a variety of Sony technologies that is packed in one TV. These features from Sony surely provide an exceptional viewing experience by offering the best out of 4K HDR Contents and delivering high-quality sound. With the 4K X-Reality™ PRO image processing, any content you fed this TV with is greatly enhanced for that better viewing experience. And lastly, Sony mentioned that the Motionflow™ XR is an innovative technology that creates and inserts extra frames between the original ones for the smoother and more fluid like video play.
Overall, it’s not a bad TV given its market selling price. Although for us, you’re better off with other models or go for the Sony Bravia XE80 TV series for just an extra £50 for the same panel size. Why? because the Sony Bravia XE70 TV doesn’t have the Sony TRILUMINOS™ Display. Meaning, when you view this TV from a certain angle, the colours are washed out and the viewing experience will not be pleasant. Thus the reason why we always recommend having an IPS display when looking for a TV or similar technology from different brands and models like the LG 43UJ630V or the Samsung UE40KU6000K that cost less than the Sony Bravia XE70.
