Out of the box and by its default settings, the LG 65SJ850V already has an amazing picture quality. This is probably due to its native 4K resolution with excellent 4K upscaler as well as their nano-cell display technology.
LG’s nano cell technology is designed to enhance the colours if the display by making them look vibrant and vivid. Paired with an IPS display panel that enabling this TV to perform a high level of colour accuracy, wider gamut range, and as well as deeper contrast.
With the addition of Active HDR, video contents or images are far brighter and has a deeper colour. Making this TV a one set of a home theatre.
Lastly, the inclusion of LG’s ultra luminance further enhances the contrast. This TV also features local dimming.
Overall, you can pretty much expect amazing picture quality from this TV. Having an IPS display with 4K resolution and nano cell technology is by far the best display technology any TV could have. The addition of ultra luminance further enhances this picture quality of this TV. Lastly, featuring a real 10-bit panel depth will surely be loved by movie lovers as well as by gamers.
The LG 65SJ850V is probably one of the best gaming TV you can find on the market amongst the 2017 TV models. It features a native refresh rate of 120 Hz, enabling you to play your video games of up to 120 frames per second without hiccups or tearing. However, 120 frames per second on a 4K resolution is only achievable if you have a very powerful gaming system. Otherwise, you can still enjoy the maximum performance of your current system when playing.
In terms of input lag, we got an average of 82ms input lag in cinema mode. In game mode, we got an amazing very low input lag of 14.5 ms. This TV will surely be loved by gamers.
One of the best features of the LG 65SJ850V is its powerful speakers. The speakers are designed and engineered by Harman Kardon.
The built-in speakers are a 2 CH system with 1 subwoofer on each side. Making it a 2.2 CH speaker system. After watching a couple of movies, the speakers surely pack a punch. The bass produced by the speakers are deep and strong with a high level of loudness without losing much audio quality.
We had to tone it volume down a little because of its loudness when volumes are set to high. Once you tested this TV, you will not even think about adding external speakers. A 40W speaker is really powerful for home use.
Overall, the LG 65SJ850V is one of the best TV we have reviewed so far. We can say on our own personal experience that the picture quality is on par or better than OLED type with the exclusion that OLED display has better black levels.
What we like about this TV is that it is packed with LG’s picture enhancing technology. Equipping with TV with an IPS display panel is already a plus for us but LG decided to include their latest nano-cell technology, 4K native resolution, their ultra luminance technology, and as well as premium HDR performance.
We also like the powerful built-in speakers. Making this TV one good set of home theatre. All you need now is the movies to watch and some popcorns.
What we did not like about this TV is its price. The price is almost in the same range of OLED TV. The input lag at normal settings is also undesirable. Reaching of up to 100ms. Causing a noticeable bleeding in some areas especially on texts.
Overall, the LG 65SJ850V is an amazing TV with so much to offer.
- Packed with Picture Enhancing Technology
- Very Low Input Lag in Game Mode
- Nano Cell Technology
- Game Mode Picture Quality is Poor
- Noticeable Bleeding in Some Areas
