What to do if the picture glitches

Glitching is when you see the picture stutter momentarily and self recover while watching live TV. This can point to an issue with your digital television signal/reception.

We would advise trying the following procedures which should help with the freezing/glitching issues you are experiencing.

Aerial / Reception issue:-

Check reception for your postcode by visiting www.freeview.co.uk

If the above checks do not work then it may be an aerial related issue and it would be a good idea to have an aerial engineer evaluate the reliability of your aerial. You may possibly need to upgrade your aerial as well but do not engage an aerial company to install any equipment without them providing a report on why you would benefit from their recommendations.

In-home electrical interference can also cause intermittent issues but again this is rare.

Installation:-

To remove any possible device interference, make sure that you check the DTR performance with only a basic configuration i.e. DTR, Aerial feed and SCART to TV.

Check that all connections including the cream/grey RF block or the black RF loop cable are installed on the rear of the DTR. Recheck the DTR to confirm you get the same problem or has it resolved?

If resolved, then it is likely that you have a device, signal or cabling issue.

Pause Live TV Function: -

In some circumstances you may see an improvement by switching off the Pause Live TV function. To do this:-

       Press Menu.

Scroll down to set-up and press OK.

Scroll down to Option 4, Recording Preferences, and press OK.

Select option 2, Pause Live TV, and use the left arrow key on the remote control to set pause to OFF.

Now check against a live channel like BBC1.

Possible local transmitter maintenance work:-

Due to the Digital Switch over there can be some local transmitter maintenance at various times, which can affect the DTR reception. This is rare but is a possibility. You can visit www.freeview.co.uk to see if there is any transmitter work going on in your area.
