How to check for the latest DTR software

Latest software from 24th January, 2012.

This new version is essential to ensure that your Sky Sports 1 and/or Sky Sports 2 viewing is unaffected by necessary signalling changes.


Current versions:

To check that your current software is up to date, press the Menu button, and select Option 4 and then Option 6. Your current software version is shown at the top of this screen, which should be:

        - Thomson DTi6300: current 7.09
           (from 24th Jan '12) previous 7.04


        - Thomson DTi6021: current 7.09
           (from 24th Jan '12) previous 7.04


        -  All other models: current 7.09
           (from 24th Jan '12) previous 7.04

Please note these software versions are updated regularly to improve the performance and features of the box, and the version numbers will therefore change over time.

Your box can automatically detect newer software, and if a newer version has been downloaded, you will see a message in your Message box (via the DTR Menu). Follow the instructions in the message to apply the latest version.

If for any reason you don't have the correct version number, then at a convenient time, simply TURN YOU DTR POWER OFF and BACK ON at the wall  and avoid using or making any recordings for at least an hour.  The box should then check for the latest software and download it automatically. Again, when a newer version has been downloaded, you will see a message in your DTR Message box. Follow the instructions in the message to apply the latest version.

 

If this doesn't update your software then you can Force the box to detect and load the latest version:

1. On your remote control, press the MENU button.

2. Select Option 4, SETUP, followed by Option 6, HELP.

3. Press the DTR remote control buttons 1397 in quick succession to load the ENGINEER MENU.

4. Move down to Option 22 (may be 21), select FORCE NEXT OAD, and press OK to action.

5. You will then see PASS displayed.

 

Now place your box in STANDBY and your DTR will pick up the new software within an hour. During this time, you should see the RED lamp for standby and a CONSTANT GREEN lamp on the front of your Thomson box as the download happens. For other tyupes, a very small RED lamp will be shown.

 

After approx an hour (may be quicker) the GREEN or RED lamp will go out when your box has the new software.

 

Now turn your box back ON, goto MENU then MESSAGES, you will see a message New TopUp TV software available, this will confirm that your recorder has downloaded the new software. Simply switch your box IN/OUT of standby and for the software to update!

 

To then confirm that you have updated your recorder to the latest version select MENU, SETUP and HELP to show Software version 7.09.


If you were suffering from missing channels due to incorrect software then when you switch the box on again, you should perform a 'Channel Scan' to resolve.


To do this:

       - Press Menu
       - Press Set-Up (4)
       - Press Scan for Channels (1)
       - Press Green button to start the scan

'Scan complete' should show at the bottom of this screen when it has finished. If you then press Guide, you can check if you now have the missing channels.
