Setting up your Top Up TV Freeview+ box

A complete installation of your box will require:

1. A suitable digital television aerial pointed to a local transmitter which allows reception of the 6 Frequencies (multiplexes) in your area.

2. A standard coaxial aerial cable connected between the television aerial socket of your home and the RF Input socket on the back of the box.

3. A SCART lead connected between the AV1 or AV2 socket of your TV and the TV SCART socket on the back of the box.

4. With both the television and box powered on, you should see the Top Up TV menu screen when you press the DTR button, followed by Menu on the remote control.

5. On your first or subsequent 'Scan for Channels' search, the Scan for Channels screen should show a minimum of 6 Frequencies Found. You can see this on the first line of the scan for channels screen once the scan process is started (remember to press the Green button on the remote control to start the scan).

More than 6 Frequencies is OK but less than 5 or 6, depending on region, will result in a loss of some channels, and the box will not function correctly.

For more information on scanning for channels, please watch our short YouTube video by clicking here.

If you do not get 5 or 6 frequencies depending on region, it may be down to one of the following reasons:

- Ensure that the grey/cream coloured RF block or the black RF loop is securely fitted on the rear of the DTR.

Without this block or loop in place the box will fail to tune correctly and will not receive software updates!

- Are you connected to a digital quality aerial?
If you are using a portable aerial this is not recommended as it may give you instability issues.

- Is the aerial properly connected?
The aerial needs to be properly terminated before it connects to the RF input on the box.

- Have you checked that your location is within a Digital Terrestrial reception area?
You can check your postcode by visiting www.digitaluk.co.uk.

- Is your aerial pointed to the recommended transmitter?
